Rāma’s victory, Sītā’s vindication, and return to Ayodhyā as told by Mārkaṇḍeya
The verse emphasizes clarity of lineage and responsibility: in epic ethics, knowing one’s familial and social position supports the proper performance of dharma—especially for royal figures whose personal relations shape public duty.
Mārkaṇḍeya is recounting key details of the Ikṣvāku royal family, naming the queens and identifying which sons were born to each, as part of a broader retelling that frames later events and moral choices.
