Rāma’s victory, Sītā’s vindication, and return to Ayodhyā as told by Mārkaṇḍeya
The verse frames moral history through origins: understanding the births and backgrounds of both the righteous (Rama, Sita) and the adversary (Ravana) helps interpret later actions in terms of dharma and karma rather than mere events.
Mārkaṇḍeya tells the king that he has finished narrating the origins of Rama and Sita and now transitions to the next section: the account of Ravana’s birth and background.
