आरण्यकपर्वणि अध्यायः २१६ — इन्द्र-स्कन्द-संमुखता वज्रप्रहारश्च
Indra approaches Skanda; vajra strike and the arising of Viśākha
त्वया विनिकृता माता पिता च द्विजसत्तम | अनिसृष्टोडसि निष्क्रान्तो गृहात् ताभ्यामनिन्दित
tvayā vinikṛtā mātā pitā ca dvijasattama | anisṛṣṭo 'si niṣkrānto gṛhāt tābhyām anindita ||
Le chasseur dit : «Ô le meilleur des brāhmanes, tu as fait tort à ta mère et à ton père. Sans avoir été congédié par eux, tu as quitté la maison, bien que tu sois irréprochable de naissance. Selon le dharma, partir sans le consentement des parents est en soi une faute, car les servir est un devoir premier.»
व्याध उवाच
That service to one’s parents is a foundational duty; even a learned Brahmin errs if he leaves home without their permission, because neglecting parents violates dharma.
The hunter instructs and reproves a Brahmin, pointing out that the Brahmin has wronged his parents by departing the household without being formally permitted by them.
