सर्वे समधिरूढा: सम संग्रामान्न: समुद्धर । जानामि त्वां महाबाहो क्षत्रधर्मे व्यवस्थितम्,इस प्रकार बोलते हुए धृष्टद्युम्नसे धर्मात्मा राजा युधिष्ठिरने कहा--“महाबाहो! पाण्डवोंसहित समस्त पांचाल वीर तुम्हारे धैर्य और पराक्रमका ही आश्रय लेकर युद्धके लिये उद्यत हुए हैं, इसलिये तुम्हीं इस संग्रामसे हमलोगोंका उद्धार करो। मैं जानता हूँ कि तुम क्षत्रियधर्ममें प्रतेष्ठित हो और युद्धकी इच्छासे सामने आये हुए समस्त कौरवोंको अकेले ही कैद कर लेनेकी पूरी शक्ति रखते हो

jānāmi tvāṃ mahābāho kṣatra-dharme vyavasthitam |
Sanjaya dit : «Nous sommes tous montés et prêts d’un même élan ; délivre-nous donc de cette bataille. Je te connais, ô toi aux bras puissants, fermement établi dans le code du guerrier : inébranlable dans le devoir du kshatriya et capable de porter le fardeau du combat pour tes alliés.»
