अध्याय २९ — वासुदेव–संजय संवादः
Karma, Varṇa-Dharma, and the Ethics of Governance
इतो गत्वा संजय क्षिप्रमेव उपातिष्ठेथा ब्राह्मणान् ये तदर्हा: । विशुद्धवीर्याश्वरणोपपन्ना: कुले जाता: सर्वधर्मोपपन्ना:,संजय! यहाँसे जाकर तुम शीघ्र ही जो आदर और सम्मानके योग्य हैं, उन विशुद्ध शक्तिशाली, ब्रह्मचर्य-पालनपूर्वक वेदोंके स्वाध्यायमें संलग्न, कुलीन तथा सर्वधर्म-सम्पन्न ब्राह्मणोंको हमारी ओरसे प्रणाम कहना
ito gatvā saṃjaya kṣipram eva upātiṣṭhethā brāhmaṇān ye tad-arhāḥ | viśuddha-vīryāśvaraṇopapannāḥ kule jātāḥ sarva-dharmopapannāḥ ||
Yudhiṣṭhira dit : «Pars d’ici, Saṃjaya, et sans tarder rends hommage aux brāhmanes qui méritent véritablement les honneurs : hommes de lignée pure et de vigueur spirituelle, doués de discipline et d’étude védique, nés dans des familles nobles et établis dans tous les devoirs du dharma. Porte-leur, de notre part, nos salutations respectueuses.»
