Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
अतदर्हा महाभागा भगीरथसुतानघा । या त्वामजीजनन्मन्दं युद्धकामुकमातुरम्,“यद्यपि वे महाभागा भगीरथपुत्री पापहीना गंगा यह दुःख देखनेके योग्य नहीं हैं, तथापि जिन्होंने तुम-जैसे युद्धकामी, आतुर एवं मूर्ख पुत्रको जन्म दिया है, उन्हें यह कष्ट भोगना ही पड़ेगा
atadarhā mahābhāgā bhagīrathasutānaghā | yā tvām ajījanan mandaṃ yuddhakāmukam āturam ||
Bhīṣma dit : «La noble Gaṅgā, sans péché—fille de Bhagiratha—ne mérite pas, à vrai dire, d’être témoin d’une telle souffrance. Pourtant, puisqu’elle t’a mis au monde, toi—insensé, brûlant d’impatience et épris de guerre—il lui faudra inévitablement porter cette douleur.»
