यस्ते युद्धमयं दर्प कामं॑ च व्यपनाशयेत्‌ । सो<हं जातो महाबाहो भीष्म: परपुरंजय: । व्यपनेष्यामि ते दर्प युद्धे राम न संशय:

Transliteration

yas te yuddhamayaṁ darpaṁ kāmaṁ ca vyapanāśayet | so 'haṁ jāto mahābāho bhīṣmaḥ parapuraṁjayaḥ | vyapaneṣyāmi te darpaṁ yuddhe rāma na saṁśayaḥ ||

Translation

« Ô toi aux bras puissants ! Celui qui peut anéantir ton orgueil né de la guerre et ton désir de combattre, c’est moi : Bhīṣma, vainqueur des cités ennemies, désormais venu au monde. Rāma, au combat je briserai toute ta fierté ; il n’y a nul doute. »
