Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 148: Vāsudeva’s Report—Mobilization and the Nīti Sequence

Sāma–Bheda–Daṇḍa

Educational Q&A

Illegitimate ambition rooted in greed and hostility toward one’s own kin is condemned; rightful sovereignty is tied to lawful succession and ethical conduct, not mere force or desire.

Vāyudeva rebukes an adversary as unworthy and undisciplined, accusing him of covetousness and malicious intent toward relatives, and challenges his claim to seize a kingdom that properly belongs to others by hereditary right.
