Kuntī–Karṇa Saṃvāda: Lineage Disclosure and Appeal to Fraternal Dharma
karṇaḥ sadā pāṇḍavānāṃ tan me dahati samprati | āśaṃse tv adya karṇasya mano'haṃ pāṇḍavān prati ||
Even when long-standing hostility causes deep inner anguish, one should still leave room for moral change and reconciliation; hope for a shift in intention can be ethically significant on the eve of conflict.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war negotiations and counsels, the narrator notes Karna’s habitual antagonism toward the Pāṇḍavas, yet expresses a present hope that Karna’s attitude might change in their favor.
