जनार्दन! जबतक ये पर्वत और सरिताएँ रहेंगी, तबतक इस युद्धकी कीर्ति-कथा अक्षय बनी रहेगी ।। ब्राह्मणा: कथयिष्यन्ति महाभारतमाहवम् । समागमेषु वार्ष्णेय क्षत्रियाणां यशोधनम्,वार्ष्णेय! ब्राह्मणलोग क्षत्रियोंक समाजमें इस महाभारतयुद्धका, जिसमें राजाओंके सुयशरूपी धनका संग्रह होनेवाला है, वर्णन करेंगे
janārdana! yāvat ime parvatāḥ saritaś ca sthāsyanti tāvat asya yuddhasya kīrti-kathā akṣayā bhaviṣyati. brāhmaṇāḥ kathayiṣyanti mahābhāratam āhavam samāgameṣu vārṣṇeya kṣatriyāṇāṃ yaśodhanam.
Karna dit : «Ô Janārdana, tant que ces montagnes et ces rivières subsisteront, la gloire et le récit de cette guerre demeureront impérissables. Ô Vārṣṇeya, dans les assemblées, les brahmanes raconteront cette grande bataille des Bhārata—événement qui devient un trésor de renommée pour les kṣatriya.»
