Krishna’s appraisal of Pandava advantage and war portents
जनार्दन! कुन्तीने कन्यावस्थामें भगवान् सूर्यके संयोगसे मुझे गर्भमें धारण किया था और मेरा जन्म हो जानेपर उन सूर्यदेवकी आज्ञासे ही मुझे जलमें विसर्जित कर दिया था ।। सो<5स्मि कृष्ण तथा जात: पाण्डो: पुत्रो5स्मि धर्मतः । कुन्त्या त्वहमपाकीर्णो यथा न कुशलं तथा,श्रीकृष्ण! इस प्रकार मेरा जन्म हुआ है। अतः मैं धर्मतः पाण्डुका ही पुत्र हूँ; परंतु कुन्तीदेवीने मुझे इस तरह त्याग दिया, जिससे मैं सकुशल नहीं रह सकता था
janārdana! kuntyā kanyāvasthāyāṁ bhagavān sūrya-saṁyogena māṁ garbhe dhāritavatyāḥ; mama janma jāte ca sūryadevasyaivājñayā māṁ jale visṛṣṭavatyāḥ. so ’smi kṛṣṇa tathā jātaḥ; pāṇḍoḥ putro ’smi dharmataḥ. kuntyā tv aham apākīrṇo yathā na kuśalaṁ tathā.

Et, une fois né, sur l’ordre même de cette divinité, elle me laissa dériver sur les eaux. Ainsi, ô Krishna, suis-je venu au monde : par le droit du dharma, j’appartiens à la lignée de Pandu ; pourtant Kuntī me rejeta de telle sorte que ma sécurité et mon bien-être demeurèrent sans protection.»
