भीष्मेण हि महाप्राज्ञ पित्रा ते बाह्लिकेन च । दत्तों5श: पाण्डुपुत्राणां भेदाद् भीतैररिंदम,'शत्रुदमन! महाप्राज्ञ! आपसकी फूटके भयसे ही पितामह भीष्मने, तुम्हारे पिताने और महाराज बाह्लीकने भी पाण्डवोंको राज्यका भाग प्रदान किया है
bhīṣmeṇa hi mahāprājña pitrā te bāhlikena ca | datto ’ṁśaḥ pāṇḍuputrāṇāṁ bhedād bhītair ariṁdama ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : «Ô très sage, ô dompteur d’ennemis : par crainte d’une rupture et de la discorde au sein du royaume, Bhīṣma, ton aïeul vénérable, ton père et le roi Bāhlīka ont bel et bien accordé aux fils de Pāṇḍu une part du royaume.»
