अध्याय १२२ — कृष्णस्य दुर्योधनं प्रति नीत्युपदेशः
Kṛṣṇa’s Ethical Counsel to Duryodhana
इदं महाख्यानमनुत्तमं हितं बहुश्रुतानां गतरोषरागिणाम् | समीक्ष्य लोके बहुधा प्रधारितं त्रिवर्गदृष्टि: पृथिवीमुपाश्चुते,यह महत्त्वपूर्ण उपाख्यान उन महापुरुषोंका है, जो अनेक शास्त्रोंके ज्ञाता तथा रोष और रागसे रहित थे। यह सबके लिये परम उत्तम और हितकर है। लोकमें इसपर नाना प्रकारसे विचार करके निश्चित किये हुए सिद्धान्तको अपनाकर धर्म, अर्थ और कामपर दृष्टि रखनेवाला पुरुष इस पृथ्वीका उपभोग करता है
idaṁ mahākhyānam anuttamaṁ hitaṁ bahuśrutānāṁ gata-roṣa-rāgiṇām | samīkṣya loke bahudhā pradhāritaṁ trivarga-dṛṣṭiḥ pṛthivīm upāśnute ||
Nārada dit : «Ce grand récit, suprême et salutaire, appartient aux hommes éminents, instruits dans de nombreux śāstra et affranchis de la colère comme de l’attachement. Celui qui l’examine en ce monde sous maints aspects et en adopte les conclusions solidement établies, gardant en vue les trois buts de l’existence—dharma, artha et kāma—peut vivre sur cette terre et en jouir avec justesse.»
