नारद उवाच
As a colophon, the line’s function is to close a unit of narration and situate it within the epic’s moral architecture: individual exempla (here, the Gālava episode) are presented as ethically instructive and are embedded within the larger dharmic crisis of negotiation and impending conflict.
The speaker-marker and concluding formula announce that the chapter on Gālava’s story has ended within the Bhagavad-yāna section of the Udyoga Parva, preparing the reader to move on to the next portion of the embassy/negotiation narrative.
