वव्रे धनं महर्षि: स जैमूतं तद्‌ धनं ततः । उस सम्पूर्ण विशाल धनराशिको उन्होंने ब्राह्मणोंमें बाँ.कठर उसका सदुपयोग किया और ब्राह्मणोंसे यह वर माँगा कि यह धन मेरे नामसे प्रसिद्ध हो। इस कारण वह धन 'जैमूत' नामसे प्रसिद्ध हुआ

Transliteration

yuparṇa uvāca | vavre dhanaṁ maharṣiḥ sa jaimūtaṁ tad dhanaṁ tataḥ |

Translation

Yuparṇa dit : «Ce grand sage demanda des richesses ; et dès lors ces richesses furent connues sous le nom de “Jaimūta”.» Dans la tradition du récit, on entend que le sage reçut une somme immense, la distribua entièrement aux brāhmaṇas avec discipline et intention juste, puis leur demanda une grâce : que cette richesse devînt renommée par son propre nom. Ainsi fut-elle célébrée comme “Jaimūta”.
