Gālava’s Despair and Resolve to Seek Viṣṇu
Hospitality is not fulfilled merely by preparing excellent food; the guest must be received and attended to promptly. Haste, distraction, or over-focus on preparation can become a lapse in atithi-dharma.
Nārada narrates that Viśvāmitra hurriedly began cooking a fine caru as a superior meal, but the guest did not (or could not) wait; thus Viśvāmitra failed to properly keep the guest in attendance and receive him at the right time.
