अतः: पर प्रवक्ष्यामि यानि देयानि भारते । वाच्यमाने तु विप्रेभ्यो राजन् पर्वणि पर्वणि
ataḥ paraṁ pravakṣyāmi yāni deyāni bhārate | vācyamāne tu viprebhyo rājan parvaṇi parvaṇi ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : « À présent, je décrirai plus avant quels dons doivent être offerts dans le Bhārata (Mahābhārata). Ô roi, tandis que le récit est récité aux brahmanes, à chaque parvan, il convient d’accorder les donations appropriées. »
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes dāna-dharma: during the recitation of the Mahābhārata, one should support the learned Brahmins with appropriate gifts, treating the act of listening/reciting as a sacred, ethically charged practice.
Vaiśampāyana tells the King that he will now enumerate the donations to be offered at each parvan as the Mahābhārata is being recited—introducing a prescriptive section on parva-by-parva gifting.
