अविलम्बमनायस्तमद्रुतं धीरमूर्जितम् । असंसक्ताक्षरपदं स्वरभावसमन्वितम्
avilambam anāyastam adrutaṃ dhīram ūrjitam | asaṃsaktākṣarapadaṃ svarabhāvasamanvitam ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana dit : «La récitation ne doit être ni traînante ni pénible, et elle ne doit pas non plus être précipitée. Qu’elle progresse avec calme et vigueur, en articulant clairement syllabes et mots sans les mêler, et en accordant la voix au sentiment. Ainsi le conteur fait entendre le sens avec douceur et rend le récit intelligible et agissant.»
