Svargārohaṇa-parva Adhyāya 5 — Karmaphala-Nirdeśa and Phalāśruti (कर्मफलनिर्देशः फलश्रुतिश्च)

भारताध्ययनात्‌ पुण्यादपि पादमधीयत: । श्रद्धया परया भक्‍त्या श्राव्यते चापि येन तु

bhāratādhyayanāt puṇyād api pādam adhīyataḥ | śraddhayā parayā bhaktyā śrāvyate cāpi yena tu ||

Vaiśampāyana dit : Même si l’on n’apprend qu’un quart de vers, le mérite acquis surpasse celui de l’étude du Bhārata tout entier. Quiconque, avec une foi suprême et une dévotion ardente, l’écoute—ou fait en sorte qu’il soit récité pour autrui—obtient le fruit entier de l’étude du Mahābhārata, et par cette puissance même atteint l’accomplissement spirituel le plus élevé.
