स्वर्गे दुर्योधनदर्शनम् | Duryodhana Seen in Heaven

Triviṣṭapa

ये ते वीरा महात्मानो भ्रातरो मे महाव्रता: । सत्यप्रतिज्ञा लोकस्य शूरा वै सत्यवादिन:

ye te vīrā mahātmāno bhrātaro me mahāvratāḥ | satyapratijñā lokasya śūrā vai satyavādinaḥ ||

Vaiśaṃpāyana dit : « Ces héros — mes frères — étaient magnanimes et fermes dans de grands vœux ; le monde les connaissait pour tenir leur parole : vaillants en vérité et voués à la vérité. Si le pécheur Duryodhana — qui ne connaissait même pas le nom du dharma, qui, toute sa vie, trahit tous les bienveillants de la terre ; par l’inimitié duquel le monde entier, avec chevaux, éléphants et hommes, fut détruit, et dans la fureur de vengeance duquel nous fûmes nous aussi brûlés — a atteint ces royaumes éternels des héros, alors quels royaumes mes frères ont-ils atteints à présent ? Je veux les voir. Et je veux aussi rencontrer le magnanime Karṇa, fils de Kuntī, inébranlable dans la vérité. »
