Educational Q&A

Accusations—especially about theft of public wealth—must be handled with urgency, yet the verse also foregrounds the ethical risk of acting on mere report (‘the crow says so’) and unnamed witnesses; dharma requires prompt but fair investigation.

A crow is presented as reporting that someone has stolen the king’s treasury, claiming that certain people ‘know’ it; Bhishma quotes this report and urges that the matter be immediately followed up.
