Chapter 72 — Royal Duty: protection of subjects, taxation, punishment, and appointments
अथ राष्ट्रमुपायेन भुज्यमान सुरक्षितम् । जनयत्यतुलां नित्यं कोशवृद्धि युधिछ्विर,युधिष्ठिर! न््यायसंगत उपायसे राष्ट्रको सुरक्षित रखते हुए उसका उपभोग किया जाय अर्थात् करके रूपमें उससे धन लिया जाय तो वह सदा राजाके कोशकी अनुपम वृद्धि करता है
atha rāṣṭram upāyena bhujyamānaṃ surakṣitam | janayaty atulāṃ nityaṃ kośa-vṛddhiṃ yudhiṣṭhira ||
Bhīṣma dit : «Ô Yudhiṣṭhira, lorsqu’un royaume est protégé avec sûreté et administré par des moyens légitimes et avisés, et que ses revenus sont perçus selon la justice, il engendre sans cesse une croissance incomparable du trésor royal.»
