Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)

यथा पुत्रास्तथा पोत्रा द्रष्टव्यास्ते न संशय: । भक्तिश्नैषां न कर्तव्या व्यवहारे प्रदर्शिते,निःसंदेह राजाको चाहिये कि वह अपनी प्रजाको पुत्रों और पौत्रोंकी भाँति स्नेहदृष्टिसे देखे; परंतु जब न्याय करनेका अवसर प्राप्त हो, तब उसे स्नेहवश पक्षपात नहीं करना चाहिये
Translation
Le roi doit considérer ses sujets comme ses fils et ses petits-fils, sans aucun doute. Mais lorsqu’il s’agit de trancher un litige et de rendre justice, il ne doit pas, par affection, tomber dans la partialité.
