Chapter 57: Constant Royal Vigilance, Primacy of Protection, and Principles of Dismissal
ऋषिणोद्दालकेनापि श्वेतकेतुर्महातपा: । मिथ्या विप्रानुपचरन् संत्यक्तो दयित: सुत:
ṛṣiṇoddālakena api śvetaketur mahātapāḥ | mithyā viprān upacaran saṃtyakto dayitaḥ sutaḥ ||
Bhishma dit : Même le sage Uddālaka rejeta son fils bien-aimé Śvetaketu—bien qu’il fût un grand ascète—pour cette seule faute : il se comportait envers les brāhmaṇas avec mensonge et tromperie. L’épisode montre que l’intégrité et la vérité envers les dignes ne souffrent aucun compromis, fût-ce lorsque le fautif est son propre enfant chéri.
