अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः
Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic
ब्रह्माजीके पुत्र भूतनाथ श्रीकण्ठ उमापति भगवान् शिवने शान्तचित्त होकर पाशुपतज्ञानका उपदेश किया है ।।
Vaiśampāyana uvāca | Pañcarātrasya kṛtsnasya vettā tu bhagavān svayam | sarveṣu ca nṛpaśreṣṭha jñāneṣv eteṣu dṛśyate || nṛpaśreṣṭha! sampūrṇa-pañcarātrasya jñātā tu sākṣād bhagavān Nārāyaṇa eva | yadi vedaśāstra-anubhava-anusāreṇa vicāryate, tarhi sarveṣu jñāneṣv eteṣu paramatātparyarūpeṇa bhagavān Nārāyaṇa eva sthita iti dṛśyate | prajānātha! ye ajñāne nimagnāḥ, te bhagavantaṃ Śrīhariṃ etasmin rūpe na jānanti ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : « Ô meilleur des rois, le Bienheureux Śiva—dit fils de Brahmā, Umāpati, Bhūtanātha et Śrīkaṇṭha—d’un esprit paisible, a enseigné la connaissance Pāśupata. Et, ô souverain éminent, le connaisseur parfait de l’ensemble du Pañcarātra n’est autre que le Seigneur Nārāyaṇa lui-même. Si l’on examine selon les Veda, les śāstra et l’expérience, on voit que, dans tous ces savoirs, l’intention suprême aboutit finalement à Nārāyaṇa. Ô maître des peuples, ceux qui sont engloutis dans l’ignorance ne reconnaissent pas Śrī Hari sous cette forme vraie et culminante. »
वैशम्पायन उवाच
That the complete understanding of the Pañcarātra belongs to the Lord Himself, and that when all recognized forms of knowledge are examined through scripture and lived realization, their highest purport converges on Nārāyaṇa as the ultimate reality; ignorance prevents this recognition.
Vaiśampāyana, continuing his instruction to the king, asserts the supremacy of Nārāyaṇa as the final meaning behind diverse teachings, contrasting the insight of reflective inquiry with the blindness of those immersed in ignorance.
