अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः
Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic
तेन भिन्नास्तदा वेदा मनो: स्वायम्भुवेडन्तरे । ततस्तुतोष भगवान् हरिस्तेनास्य कर्मणा
tena bhinnās tadā vedā manoḥ svāyambhuve 'ntare | tatas tutoṣa bhagavān haris tenāsya karmaṇā ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Par cet acte, les Veda furent divisés durant le Manvantara de Manu Svāyambhuva. Alors le Seigneur bienheureux Hari fut satisfait de lui en raison de cette action.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse links the preservation and orderly arrangement of sacred knowledge (the Vedas) with dharmic action, showing that such service to revelation and cosmic order is ethically meritorious and wins divine approval (Hari’s satisfaction).
Vaiśampāyana reports that during the era (Manvantara) of Manu Svāyambhuva the Vedas were divided/organized, and that Hari (Viṣṇu) became pleased with the agent responsible because of that accomplished act.
