Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic
The verse presents a dharmic-cosmic ethic of support: the world stands through layered responsibility—Śeṣa upholds the Earth, and the Earth upholds all beings. Stability and order arise from sustaining one’s appointed role.
Vaiśampāyana reports a cosmological statement identifying the subterranean Śeṣa (the great serpent in Pātāla) as the bearer of the Earth, emphasizing how the entire moving and unmoving universe is maintained through this foundational support.
