Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic
True learning is portrayed as a disciplined tradition: mastery through repeated recitation and careful interpretation, grounded in the student’s attentive service and the teacher’s self-control and single-pointed focus.
Vaiśampāyana recalls the period of study under Vyāsa: Vyāsa recites and teaches the Vedas (with their auxiliaries) and explains the Mahābhārata’s meanings, while the disciples remain vigilant and devoted in serving him.
