Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca: etad dhayaśiro rājann ākhyānaṃ tava kīrtitam | purāṇaṃ vedasamitaṃ yan māṃ tvaṃ paripṛcchasi ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana dit : «Ô Roi, je t’ai maintenant rapporté cet antique récit de Hayagrīva—attesté en accord avec les Veda—au sujet duquel tu m’interrogeais. Ainsi la vénérable tradition conforme aux Veda que tu cherchais a été dite comme il se doit.»

Vaiśaṃpāyana concludes his telling of the ancient Hayagrīva-related account, stating to the king that he has narrated the Veda-approved story the king had asked to hear.
