सर्वज्ञा: केशवं तस्मान्मामाहुर्द्धिजसत्तमा: । जगत्को तपानेवाले सूर्यकी तथा अग्नि और चन्द्रमाकी जो किरणें प्रकाशित होती हैं, वे सब मेरा केश कहलाती हैं। उस केशसे युक्त होनेके कारण सर्वज्ञ द्विजश्रेष्ठ मुझे "केशव" कहते हैं ।। ४८ $ || एवं हि वरदं नाम केशवेति ममार्जुन | देवानामथ सर्वेषामृषीणां च महात्मनाम्
arjuna uvāca | evaṃ hi varadaṃ nāma keśaveti mamārjuna | devānām atha sarveṣām ṛṣīṇāṃ ca mahātmanām ||
«Ainsi donc, ô Arjuna, le nom “Keśava” est devenu pour moi un épithète véritablement dispensateur de grâces, reconnu parmi tous les dieux et parmi les sages au grand cœur.»
