धर्मस्य बहुद्वारत्वम् — Nārada’s Audience with Indra (Śānti-parva 340)

कथं स न विजानीयात्‌ प्रभावममितौजस: । भगवान्‌ ब्रह्मा तो उन्हीं नारायणसे प्रकट हुए हैं। फिर वे उन महातेजस्वी नारायणका प्रभाव कैसे नहीं जानते होंगे? ।।

kathaṁ sa na vijānīyāt prabhāvam amitaujasaḥ | bhagavān brahmā tu tebhyo nārāyaṇād eva prakaṭo bhavati | atha sa mahātejaso nārāyaṇasya prabhāvaṁ kathaṁ na jānīyāt ||

Bhīṣma dit : « Comment pourrait-il ignorer la majesté de l’Être à la puissance incommensurable ? Car même le bienheureux Brahmā se manifeste à partir de ce Nārāyaṇa même. Dès lors, comment ne pas reconnaître la grandeur et la souveraine puissance de ce Nārāyaṇa au rayonnement suprême ? Ce point est autant éthique que théologique : la vraie compréhension commence par la reconnaissance de la source la plus haute, et l’humilité devant cette source est elle-même une forme de dharma. »
