देव उवाच
As a colophon, the line does not add new doctrine; it frames the completed chapter as an exposition of Nārāyaṇa’s greatness, implying that recognizing the divine’s supremacy and cultivating devotion are presented as supports for dharma and the pursuit of peace in the Śānti Parva.
The speaker-marker and closing formula announce that the chapter has concluded. It identifies the location within the Mahābhārata (Śānti Parva), the internal section (Gokṣadharma Parva), and the chapter’s topic (praise/description of Nārāyaṇa’s greatness).
