Haṃsa–Sādhya Saṃvāda: Satya, Dama, Kṣamā and the Discipline of Speech
उपपच्त्योपलब्धेषु लोकेषु च समो भव,'दैवेच्छासे जो भी लौकिक पदार्थ उपलब्ध हों, उनमें समान भाव रखो--राग-द्वेष न करो'
upapratyopalabdheṣu lokeṣu ca samo bhava
Bhīṣma dit : «Quelles que soient les conditions et les possessions du monde qui te viennent par les circonstances et la providence, demeure égal d’esprit. Ne tombe ni dans l’attachement ni dans l’aversion ; accueille ce qui advient sans trouble intérieur et tiens ta conduite ferme dans le dharma.»
भीष्म उवाच
Maintain equanimity toward whatever worldly gains or situations arise by circumstance; avoid rāga (attachment) and dveṣa (aversion), and keep the mind steady in dharma.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on righteous living after the war; here he emphasizes inner balance and non-reactivity toward the changing fortunes of worldly life.
