देवदेवेश्वर! जरायुज, अण्डज, स्वेदज तथा उद्धिज्ज--ये चार प्रकारके प्राणिसमूह आप ही हैं ।।

Transliteration

devadeveśvara! jarāyuja, aṇḍaja, svedaja tathā udbhijja—ye caturvidhāḥ prāṇisaṃghāḥ tvam eva. carācarasya sraṣṭā tvaṃ pratihartā tathaiva ca. tvām āhur brahmaviduṣo brahma brahmavidāṃ vara.

Translation

Bhīṣma dit : «Ô Souverain suprême, Seigneur des dieux ! Tous les êtres vivants—nés du sein, nés de l’œuf, issus de la sueur ou de l’humidité, et ceux qui germent de la terre—sont, en leur essence, en Toi et dépendent de Toi. Tu es le créateur de tout ce qui est mobile et immobile, et Tu en es aussi le retracteur au temps de la dissolution. C’est pourquoi les connaisseurs du Brahman Te nomment “Brahman” lui-même, la réalité suprême, et T’honorent comme le plus éminent parmi ceux qui connaissent l’Absolu.»
