Livelihood, Virtuous Association, and Ethics of Giving
नमस्यश्लैव मान्यश्न सर्वप्राणिभिरी श्वर: । अनेन हि समाविष्टो वृत्रो धर्मभूतां वर:
namasyaś caiva mānyaś ca sarva-prāṇibhir īśvaraḥ | anena hi samāviṣṭo vṛtro dharma-bhūtān varaḥ ||
Bhīṣma dit : «Ce Seigneur doit être salué et révéré par tous les êtres vivants. Oui, c’est par Lui que Vṛtra, le premier des justes, fut pénétré/possédé.»
भीष्म उवाच
That the supreme Lord is universally worthy of reverence, and that even formidable powers and events unfold under divine governance; moral excellence (dharma) is acknowledged within this larger cosmic sovereignty.
Bhīṣma explains that the Lord—described in the surrounding context as manifesting as a fierce, Mahādeva-linked ‘fever’ force—can enter beings; he cites Vṛtra, praised as foremost among the righteous, as one who was entered by that divine agency.
