Shloka 32

अग्निरुवाच मम मोक्षस्य कोडच्तो वै ब्रह्मन्‌ ध्यायस्व वै प्रभो । एतदिच्छामि विज्ञातुं तत्तवतो लोकपूजित,अग्निने कहा--्रह्मन! प्रभो! मेरे लिये आपकी आज्ञा शिरोधार्य है, परंतु मैं भी इस ब्रह्महत्यासे मुक्त हो सकूँ, इसके लिये इसकी अन्तिम अवधि क्या होगी, इसपर आप विचार करें। विश्ववन्द्य पितामह! मैं इस बातको ठीक-ठीक जानना चाहता हूँ

agnir uvāca mama mokṣasya ko ’ntaḥ vai brahman dhyāyasva vai prabho | etad icchāmi vijñātuṁ tattvato lokapūjita ||

Agni dit : «Ô brahmane, ô seigneur vénérable, daigne réfléchir et fixer la véritable limite—le terme ultime—de ma délivrance. Je souhaite savoir avec précision, ô toi que les mondes honorent, quand et comment je pourrai être affranchi de cette souillure du brahmahatyā, le péché d’avoir tué un brāhmaṇa.»
