Śreyas-nirdeśa (Discerning the Superior Good): Nārada–Gālava Saṃvāda
नास्ति विद्यासमं चक्षुर्नास्ति विद्यासमं फलम्
nāsti vidyāsamaṃ cakṣur nāsti vidyāsamaṃ phalam
Bhīṣma dit : « Il n’est point de vision égale au savoir, et il n’est point de récompense égale au savoir. » Dans l’instruction morale du Śānti Parva, cela affirme que l’étude est à la fois le plus limpide “regard intérieur” pour discerner le dharma et le fruit le plus élevé, le plus durable, de l’effort humain.
भीष्म उवाच
Knowledge (vidyā) is portrayed as the highest form of ‘sight’—the capacity to perceive right and wrong—and as the greatest ‘fruit,’ meaning the most valuable and lasting result of human striving.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma is teaching Yudhiṣṭhira about dharma and right living; this verse is a concise maxim emphasizing the supreme value of knowledge within that counsel.
