राजधर्मः—राष्ट्ररक्षणं, दण्डनीतिः, हयग्रीवोपाख्यानम्

Royal Duty: Protection, Penal Policy, and the Hayagrīva Exemplum

नाकालतो भानुरुपैति योगं नाकालतो3स्तंगिरिमभ्युपैति | नाकालतो वर्धते हीयते च चन्द्र: समुद्रो5पि महोर्मिमाली

na kālato bhānur upaiti yogaṃ na kālato ’staṅgirim abhyupaiti | na kālato vardhate hīyate ca candraḥ samudro ’pi mahormimālī ||

Vyāsa dit : Le soleil ne rejoint pas l’horizon avant son heure, ni ne s’approche de la montagne du couchant avant son heure. De même, la lune ne croît ni ne décroît hors saison, et même l’océan, couronné de vagues puissantes, ne se soulève pas à contretemps. Ainsi, les grandes puissances du monde se meuvent sous le gouvernement du Temps ; il faut donc agir avec patience et justesse, sans contraindre les effets contre l’instant ordonné.
