Adhyāya 249 — Mṛtyu-prādurbhāvaḥ (The Manifestation of Death) / Restraint of Tejas and Ordered Saṃhāra
Vyāsa emphasizes faithful transmission of diverse philosophical positions and asserts a practical criterion: those who follow the taught path attain the intended spiritual result (such as liberation), while those who do not follow it fail to attain that result.
In the didactic setting of the Śānti Parva, Vyāsa addresses his ‘son’ and concludes or summarizes an exposition of multiple viewpoints, stating that he has presented them as they are and linking adherence to attainment.
