Ātma-saṃyama-dharma: One-pointedness of Mind and Senses (शुक–व्यास संवादः)

परम ऋषियोंने ब्रह्मचर्यके पालनसे ही उत्तम लोकोंपर विजय पायी है; अतः मन-ही- मन अपने कल्याणकी इच्छा रखकर पहले ब्रह्मचर्यका पालन करे ।।

vyāsa uvāca | paramarṣibhir brahmacaryapālanenaiva uttamalokānāṃ vijayo labdhaḥ; ataḥ manasā svakalyāṇecchayā pūrvaṃ brahmacaryaṃ pālayet || vane mūlaphalāśī ca tapyan suviphulaṃ tapaḥ | puṇyāyatanacārī ca bhūtānām avihiṃsakaḥ ||

Vyāsa dit : Les rishis suprêmes ont conquis les mondes les plus élevés précisément par l’observance du brahmacarya. Aussi, désirant en son for son propre bien, doit-on d’abord maintenir le brahmacarya. Ensuite, prenant refuge dans la discipline de la vie forestière, qu’on demeure dans les bois en se nourrissant de racines et de fruits, qu’on s’applique à de vastes austérités, qu’on chemine parmi les lieux saints, et qu’on veille à ce qu’aucun être vivant ne soit blessé par ses actes.
