आत्मदर्शन-उपदेशः (Ātma-darśana Upadeśa) — Mind, Senses, and the All-pervading Self
अन्य युगोंमें शास्त्रोक्त धर्मका क्रमश: एक-एक चरण क्षीण होता जाता है और चोरी, असत्य तथा छल-कपट आदिके द्वारा अधर्मकी वृद्धि होने लगती है ।।
anye yugeṣu śāstroktasya dharmasya kramaśa ekaikaḥ pādaḥ kṣīyate, cauryānṛta-chala-kapaṭādibhiś cādharmasya vṛddhir bhavati. arogāḥ sarva-siddhārthāś catur-varṣa-śatāyuṣaḥ kṛte; tretā-yuge tv eṣāṃ pādaśo hrasate vayaḥ.
Vyāsa explique qu’à mesure que le monde traverse les âges successifs, l’ordre du dharma prescrit par les Écritures perd ses appuis l’un après l’autre. Avec la diffusion du vol, du mensonge et de la tromperie, l’adharma croît d’autant. Dans le Kṛta (Satya) Yuga, les hommes sont exempts de maladie, leurs desseins s’accomplissent et ils vivent quatre cents ans ; lorsque vient le Tretā Yuga, leur durée de vie diminue d’un quart, et ainsi elle décline encore dans les âges suivants.
