कर्म–ज्ञान–दैव–स्वभावविचारः
Inquiry into Karma, Knowledge, Fate, and Nature
समत्वाच्च प्रियो नास्ति नाप्रियश्व॒ कथंचन । मनो<नुकूलवादी च तस्मात् सर्वत्र पूजित:
samatvācca priyo nāsti nāpriyaś ca kathaṃcana | mano'nukūlavādī ca tasmāt sarvatra pūjitaḥ ||
Parce qu’il demeure dans l’égalité d’âme, il n’a nul favori, et ne hait personne d’aucune manière. Parlant d’une façon agréable à l’esprit, il est pour cela honoré partout.
वायुदेव उवाच
Equanimity removes partiality and aversion; coupled with speech that is agreeable and non-provocative, it naturally earns respect and harmony in society.
Vāyudeva is describing the marks of a balanced, virtuous person: one who maintains sameness toward all, harbors neither favoritism nor dislike, and speaks in a way that aligns with and soothes the listener’s mind—hence being honored everywhere.
