प्रयत्नेनापि चारक्षच्चित्तं पुत्रस्य वै पिता
prayatnenāpi cārakṣac cittaṃ putrasya vai pitā
Śakra dit : Même avec un effort ardent, le père ne put ni protéger ni affermir l’esprit de son fils—montrant que la sollicitude des parents a ses limites lorsque manquent la résolution intérieure et la maîtrise de soi.
शक्र उवाच
External guardianship—even by a well-intentioned parent—cannot fully protect a person’s inner mind; lasting safety depends on the individual’s own discipline and right understanding.
Śakra (Indra) comments on a situation where a father, despite trying hard, fails to keep his son’s mind on a wholesome or stable course, highlighting the moral that inner restraint cannot be imposed from outside.
