अध्याय २२० — बलिवासवसंवादः

Bali–Vāsava Dialogue on Kāla and Steadfastness

जनवादमृषावादस्तुतिनिन्दाविवर्जनम्‌ | साधुकामश्न स्पृहयेन्नायतिं प्रत्ययेषु च

bhīṣma uvāca | janavādamṛṣāvādastutinindāvivarjanam | sādhukāmaś ca na spṛhayed nāyatiṃ pratyayeṣu ca ||

Bhishma dit : Il faut s’abstenir des commérages du monde, des paroles mensongères, et tout autant de la louange que du blâme. Qu’on aspire à la compagnie des hommes de bien, tout en demeurant libre de convoitise : sans s’agripper à ce qui doit venir, ni dépendre avec anxiété des attentes et des assurances. Tels sont les signes de la maîtrise de soi, qui affermissent l’esprit et soutiennent une vie selon le dharma.
