Guru’s Instruction on Dream, Mind, Guṇas, and Knowing Brahman
Svapna–Manas–Guṇa–Brahma-vicāra
ततस्ते मधुपर्केण पूजां चक्कुरथो मयि । प्रतिगृह्म च तां पूजां प्रत्यनन्दमृषीनहम्
tataste madhuparkeṇa pūjāṃ cakkuratho mayi | pratigṛhya ca tāṃ pūjāṃ pratyānandam ṛṣīn aham ||
Bhishma dit : «Alors ces sages m’honorèrent par l’offrande du madhuparka et accomplirent pour moi les rites d’accueil. Recevant cette hospitalité, je les saluai à mon tour et réjouis tous ces rishis.»
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights atithi-dharma (the ethics of hospitality) and reciprocity: worthy guests are to be honored with proper rites, and the guest should accept with humility and respond with respectful greetings, strengthening dharmic social bonds.
Bhishma recounts being received by a group of sages who offer him madhuparka and perform a formal welcome; he accepts their hospitality and then respectfully acknowledges and pleases them in return.
