मनु-उपदेशः — भूत-उत्पत्ति, इन्द्रिय-निवृत्ति, तथा पर-स्वभाव-विवेकः

Manu’s Instruction on Elemental Origination, Sense-Withdrawal, and Discrimination of the Supreme Nature

अथ यद्‌ दुःखसंयुक्तमप्रीतिकरमात्मन: । प्रवृत्त रज इत्येव तन्न संरभ्य चिन्तयेत्‌

atha yad duḥkhasaṃyuktam aprītikaram ātmanaḥ | pravṛttaṃ raja ity eva tan na saṃrabhya cintayet ||

Bhīṣma dit : Chaque fois qu’un état surgit dans l’esprit, mêlé de peine et porteur de déplaisir intérieur, qu’on le reconnaisse simplement comme l’éveil de rajas (la qualité de la passion et de l’agitation). Ainsi, lorsqu’on rencontre cette douleur, qu’on n’ébranle pas l’esprit par des ruminations inquiètes, car l’inquiétude ne fait qu’accroître la souffrance.
