The verse functions as a colophon indicating the completion of a chapter whose subject is ācāra-vidhi—prescribed rules of right conduct—presented within Mokṣa-dharma. The implied teaching is that disciplined ethical practice (ācāra) is foundational to peace (śānti) and supports the broader aim of liberation-oriented dharma.
This is a formal closing statement marking the end of the 193rd chapter in the Mokṣa-dharma portion of Śānti Parva, situated in the ongoing instructional dialogue where Bhīṣma teaches Yudhiṣṭhira about dharma and proper conduct.
