Jñāna-yoga and Karma-phala: Manu–Bṛhaspati on Akṣara and the Limits of Mantra
ज्ञानपूर्वकृतं पापं छादयत्यबहुश्रुत: । नैनं मनुष्या: पश्यन्ति पश्यन्त्येव दिवौकस:
jñānapūrvakṛtaṃ pāpaṃ chādayaty abahuśrutaḥ | nainaṃ manuṣyāḥ paśyanti paśyanty eva divaukasaḥ ||
Bhīṣma dit : Seul l’insensé, peu instruit, tente de dissimuler un péché commis en connaissance de cause. Quand bien même les hommes ne s’en apercevraient pas, les habitants du ciel — les dieux — le voient assurément. L’enseignement est que le péché délibéré ne peut être réellement caché, et que la responsabilité morale dépasse l’observation humaine.
