Adhyāya 193: Adjudication of the Comparable Fruits of Japa and Yoga
जो लोभ और मोहसे युक्त हो एक दूसरेको खा जानेके लिये उद्यत रहते हैं, वे भी इसी लोकमें आवागमन करते रहते हैं, उत्तरदिशाके उत्कृष्ट लोकमें नहीं जाने पाते हैं ।।
bharadvāja uvāca | ye lobha-mohābhyāṁ yuktā anyonyam khāditum udyatāḥ santi, te ’pi asmin loke punar-āvartante; na tu uttaradiśaḥ utkṛṣṭaṁ lokaṁ gacchanti || ye gurūn paryupāsante niyatā brahmacāriṇaḥ, manasendriyāṇi saṁyamya; panthānaṁ sarva-lokānāṁ vijānanti manīṣiṇaḥ ||
Bharadvāja dit : «Ceux que l’avidité et l’illusion enchaînent, toujours prêts à se dévorer les uns les autres, continuent de tourner dans ce monde même ; ils n’atteignent pas le royaume excellent de la direction du Nord. Mais les brahmacārins disciplinés, qui maîtrisent l’esprit et les sens et servent leurs maîtres avec dévotion—ces sages en viennent à connaître les voies qui mènent à tous les mondes.»
