Adhyāya 193: Adjudication of the Comparable Fruits of Japa and Yoga
इह चिन्ता बहुविधा धर्माधर्मस्य कर्मण: । कर्मभूमिरियं लोके इह कृत्वा शुभाशुभम् | शुभे: शुभमवाप्रोति तथाशुभमथान्यथा
iha cintā bahuvidhā dharmādharmasya karmaṇaḥ | karmabhūmir iyaṃ loke iha kṛtvā śubhāśubham || śubheḥ śubham avāpnoti tathāśubham athānyathā ||
En ce monde naissent bien des réflexions sur l’acte—ce qui est dharma et ce qui est adharma. Ce monde est le champ du karma : ayant accompli ici des œuvres bonnes ou mauvaises, l’homme obtient le bon fruit des bonnes actions et, de même, subit le mauvais fruit des mauvaises—jamais autrement.
भरद्वाज उवाच
The verse teaches moral causality: this world is the arena where actions are performed, and actions reliably bear corresponding fruits—good deeds yield good results and evil deeds yield evil results, not the reverse.
